Here is a brief description of each piece of software, and how it will help you with your studies.
Office Word 2007
At this stage everyone must know what Word is. It's word processing software that allows you to write everything from letters to theses. One handy new feature of Word 2007 is that the word count is automatically displayed at the bottom of the screen, so you know how close you are to finishing that essay at every step along the way!
Office Excel 2007
Excel is a spreadsheet application, with which you can make calculations, tables, graphs, and sort out your accounts. With Excel 2007, it's easier to implement formulae into your spreadsheets, making Maths homework a lot easier! The new Excel can support a mesmerizing 562,932,773,552,128 characters. I don't think any of us could fill a spreadsheet that much!
Office PowerPoint 2007
Office PowerPoint is used for presentations and slideshows. With more and more teachers and lecturers requiring presentations as well as essays, this is a must-have for all students. It is easy to use, and will distract your listeners from your nervousness! In PowerPoint 2007, it's easier than ever to create charts and graphs. You're bound to impress your classmates, and your teachers.
Office Outlook 2007
Office Outlook is mainly a mail client, and is not a part of Office Home and Student! It is packaged with each of the versions we sell, and is an essential piece of kit. Not only does it let you easily sort and store emails from many different accounts (even your Gmail, Hotmail, or eircom.net account), but it also has a calendar feature, as well as a contacts manager/address book. One of the great new features is the To-Do bar, which means you'll never lose track of assignments.
Office Publisher 2007
Microsoft Office Publisher is a different product to Office Word. Rather than being a stand-alone text creation and word processing application, Publisher focuses more on the layout and design aspects of your work. It features hundreds of different templates with which you can make anything from newsletters to emails. Many students use it for school projects, as well as making their essays and assignments look much more glamorous.
Office Access 2007
Access is a database management system, with which you can keep track of many different things such as contacts, events, projects, and more. With Access 2007, you can easily import Excel spreadsheets as well as your contacts from Outlook, allowing you to keep tabs on everything!
Office InfoPath 2007
Office InfoPath is used to collect data and complete forms. It's especially handy if you have to create a survey for a school project, as the information collected is collated automatically, however you choose. With InfoPath, you can easily integrate a survey form into your website.
Office Groove 2007
Office Groove is the perfect software to combine all your efforts when working as part of a team. Many college students (and secondary school ones too) are given assignments in groups to encourage team-work, and mass-participation. When one person updates a document, everyone else's is automatically updated. With Groove 2007, it's even easier to update team projects offline.
Office OneNote 2007
Fed up having post-it notes stuck to everything? Office OneNote is the way forward. It effortlessly keeps track of your notes, and is easy to search allowing you to easily find something you thought you'd never need again. With OneNote 2007, you can drag-and-drop notes from the internet, and also integrate it with Outlook. Who needs copy books?
Office Communicator 2007
Office Communicator is Microsoft's replacement for Windows Messenger. It's much better than Windows Messenger and allows students (and others) to keep contact through Instant Messaging and even Video Conferencing. Parents please note: it'll save a fortune on phone bills!
