Things they didn't teach you at school
Back To The Drawing Board.

Workers in Ireland must be watching protests around Europe, especially in the UK, with interest as the ugly topic of protectionism rears its head.
For Irish people to forget their history and protest the use of foreign nationals in this country would be the ultimate hypocrisy.
Thankfully, this has yet to materialise and as a nation I hope we are intelligent enough to realise that any jobs lost can be replaced providing we have the ambition to better ourselves and our skills.
Step one is admitting we have a problem.
Now the Government has finally started using the 'R' word, the plan so far to combat recession is proving muddled at best - at least as far as software skills and the education industry is concerned.
The increased importance of the role of colleges and universities in relation to combating unemployment does make sense. In this new digital age, the smart economy requires adults to have computing and online skills that they may not have learned at school.
It is perfectly OK to admit that! It's time we did.
Colleges and universities will therefore play a vital role in the retraining of both existing workers and the recently unemployed.

Learn New Computer Techniques
|
Embrace Learning.
In our previous blog post we discussed what people can do to get organised and become more web savvy.
Computer software is without doubt, a fantastic way to encourage everyone to learn more about the world and their environment.
One software package that every home should consider buying is Microsoft Student with Encarta Premium 2009.
The latest edition offers a wealth of multimedia tools as well as dedicated programs for homework subjects including Maths and English.
"Nothing else gives you nearly the wealth of tools and resources you find in Microsoft Student with Encarta, making it a PC Magazine Editors' Choice for educational software." - pcmag.com
When it comes to using computers and software, people generally muddle through without really trying to learn the best techniques and practices.
Example: do you know what an AutoHotkey is?
Did you know that you could vastly reduce the amount of time you spend writing repetitive emails by using an AutoHotkey?
This is just one example of how you can save time by learning new computer tricks.
