Newsletters: How Often Is Too Often?
The Question Of Adding Value
by
SoftwareGuru
"Click-through ads are dead, social media is king" - so
say the internet marketing experts.
Now that parents and the older demographic are on Facebook and
other social networking portals, companies want a piece of the
action.
Retailers are trying harder than ever to interact with potential
customers in an
effort to persuade you to visit their website and spend money.
I read a report recently that stated that unless you are over
65, internet users are unlikely to click on any type of visual
online ad.
Full time brand managers now oversee a company's social media
marketing efforts. For established worldwide brands like Dell there are increased sales
via Twitter success stories.
For small to medium sized businesses - SMEs - social media
(untargeted) traffic has yet to prove itself as a worthy successor to more
traditional methods such as Google Pay-Per-Click ads, newsletters and special offers by
email.
So then, the question is do we still pay as much attention to
newsletters as we used to or do we now increasingly view them as
spam that needs to be deleted?

We Respect Your Email Privacy
It's still the first month of the new year so let's take stock
of what to expect in Software4Students newsletters.
As more and more companies resort to multiple weekly emails to
push sales during the recession, people are getting quickly
tired of this tactic and unsubscribing.
Even if you like a particular website or company, no-one wants
their inbox to be filled constantly with low quality mass
mailouts.
At Software4Students Ireland we have always respected
our customers' email addresses.
We aim to deliver mailouts on average once a month with the
occasional extra mailout if one of our partners such as
Microsoft announce a special deal.
In return, our subscribers are twice as likely to open our
mailouts based on email industry figures.
We are also in the Top 25% of Facebook fan pages in the world
and now more Universities, schools and individuals are
linking to our site.
Your support means a lot. Every time we sort
through educational licensing red tape on your behalf to secure
academic price discounts, we can now point to these facts and
get even better deals for students, parents and guardians.
