Microsoft To The Rescue As Economic Storm Continues

Time For Change and How Microsoft Can Help You Save Money.

Phew! What a week it's been.

Ireland is now officially in a recession. The country is up in arms over proposed school cutbacks plus the removal of the free medical card for the over 70s, not forgetting one T.D. actually resigning from Fianna Fáil due to lack of confidence in the Government...

So it's a welcome relief to hear some good news in the form of games company GOA creating over 400 new jobs in Dublin.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?

Tánaiste Mary Coughlan was quick to claim credit on behalf of an embattled Government at a time when the tech industry leaders in Ireland are warning us that the standard of our graduates is not up to scratch.

Without better qualified teachers to educate the next generation, will the current influx of tech companies such as Facebook and GOA become a case of here today, gone tomorrow?

Microsoft To The Rescue

At a time when SMEs and small business in general is being squeezed, large corporations like Microsoft are uniquely positioned to help people save money and make our lives easier.

Having already announced a program to refurbish business PCs for schools and charities, Microsoft Ireland is working hard to provide affordable software solutions for everyone.

Pupils and families will find a wide range of discount software on the Software4Students site, from Office 2007 to Expression Studio 2 - and save hundreds of Euro in the process.

And that's not even including the new price cut for the Xbox 360 which brings it down to €179.99 just in time for Christmas shopping!

Time For Ireland To Grow Up

The Celtic Tiger may have brought wealth and prosperity to Ireland but recent events and the collapsing property market illustrate - in very clear terms - a real lack of wisdom in Ireland.

Digital Dublin is a city infatuated with status, image and money. David McWilliams called it "a generation war".

But no matter which generation you belong to, there is no escaping the fact that the country's days of acting like a spoilt teenager are over.

It is time for Ireland to grow up and take responsibility.

We have the talent and the imagination to create new products and services for the world's evolving tech companies whether for GOA, Facebook or Microsoft.

The future can be whatever we want it to be.
