High Street Blues as Irish Online Retailers Generate €12m per day

What Credit Crunch ?

As the world economy forces people to tighten their belts, more bargain hunters are turning to the internet to help them save money.

That's great news for Irish online retailers because despite the current economic climate, shopping online is still very much in growth mode compared to traditional high-street retail activity.

The rising cost of fuel also makes travelling to pay high street prices even less attractive.

Irish Online Shopping Boom

Why pay more when you can shop online?
Half The Cake And Eat It

In 2008, average daily web sales in Ireland are now exceeding €12m per day.

And if you think that this is likely to slow down, think again. Recent research in the UK suggests that internet sales will continue to grow and the web will claim more than half of the retail market pie by 2026.

That's a big slice of pie!

High Street Blues

There will always be some growing pains for the Irish economy as it is forced to adapt to a smarter, more informed consumer who knows he/she can save money by buying online.

The high street will survive but it must offer a different experience that people want to enjoy, be a part of and embrace.

Until then, Ireland's shoppers know that for once they have the upper hand.
